Blogger Spotlight: Curiously Conscious

By Natalie Tamara @thetofudiaries

There are some fantastic ladies out there dedicating their time to making cruelty-free choices so much easier for the rest of us, researching the complex issues around animal testing and championing the brands who keep their hands clean. Over the next two weeks I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite cruelty-free blogs, that I hope you’ll love too!

Today I’m talking to Besma from Curiously Conscious who blogs about all things cruelty-free, be it beauty, fashion or food. I love Besma’s posts about living a greener, more mindful life too and her gorgeous minimalist photography (I mean, just look at her Instagram!).

How would you describe your blog and what can people expect to find there?

Curiously Conscious is a blog that explores chic, sustainable, healthy living choices. It combines two main lifestyle principles,

conscious living and mindful eating, and I write about healthy food, cruelty-free beauty, ethical fashion and a generally balanced and happy lifestyle!

Tell us a little bit about your cruelty-free journey and what made you decide to go cruelty-free.

Going cruelty-free was part of the process of turning vegetarian – I dislike the way in which animals are treated like products, and farms like factories, and the same goes for testing on animals for cosmetic purposes.

What is your process for finding out if something really is cruelty-free?

The best way I find out if something is cruelty-free is by asking. I’ve come to find some places simply don’t display their cruelty-free status, so a quick email is great. However, in general, I look for the Leaping Bunny logo, or another form of certification, such as BDIH badge.

Who is your top cruelty-free brand that you couldn’t do without?

I’ve grown to really love Living Nature, which is a New Zealand brand but is stocked online in the UK. Their products are always so gentle on the skin, cruelty-free, and full of natural ingredients, which fits all the things I look for in a good skin care brand.

To get a general overview of my blog, I’d really recommend starting with:
