Bill Cosby has been sentenced for the sex crime he committed. Judge Steven O'Neill said Cosby's crime was a serious one, and sentenced him to 10 years in prison (with the possibility of parole after serving 3 years.
Judge O'Neill further stated that "No one is above the law, and no one should be treated differently or disproportionally". The judge is right -- no one should be considered above the law.
Unfortunately, that is not yet true in this country. There are still men considered to be above the law -- rich white men like Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh.
Cosby deserved his sentence. But our society, and its justice system, still has a long way to go before it's fair to women that are victims of sexual crimes. Senate Republicans are currently making that very clear.
