Bid Farewell to Beautiful and Strong Braids in College Days

Before writing this article, I must tell you that the words you will be reading in this post are not mine……. Surprised? Don’t be, because Beautiful Ends to your Beautiful Braidsthe story I am sharing with you is narrated by my wife, Uma. When I read about this contest on indiblogger, I thought for writing my own story but then I realized that I never had braid and so how can I write my own story and then shared this with my wife. I asked her whether you had any experience in your past like this????? And she told.. Yes of-course, upto 10th standard my mother used to braid my hair and I have never gone school without a braid (two braids in 6th and 7th standard).

(Writing on her behalf) “I do not remember much but a few glimpses come to my mind when I was in 1st standard (in 1992) and studying in a Government school in Haryana. I was just 5 years old that time, obviously not having long hair and also never tied them upto 5th standard. 6th standard onwards when it became compulsory for girls to come with a braid, which was the first time, my mommy tied my hair and made a braid. In villages, we never used shampoo for cleaning our hair (even today in few areas), we were using “Multani” those days and believe me “Multani” was amazing which made my hair so silky and dandruff free.

I remember in 6th standard, I was going in school with two braids and my classmates used to tease me with a sentence “Tu chotti teri choti bhi chotti” because my hair was not long that time. When I told the same to my Mom also, she started using shampoo on my hair (I don’t remember the name of that shampoo) and that shampoo helps my hair to get longer and stronger and hence a beautiful & strong braid.

Now coming to my college days, when I was studying in Delhi University in 2004, I remember there was a college fest where a competition for choosing a girl with longest hair was held. I was chosen as the winner for the contest with my longest hair which were 4 feet long and that time also I used to braid my long and strong hair. When we were in final year of the college, my friends suggest me to use open hair and that was not possible for me because my hair was so long and a little bit curly also which was almost impossible for me to manage. But my Mom and my elder sister suggest me to get my hair trimmed and straighten which gave an amazing impact on my personality and that was the end of braids in my life.

Now it is almost 7 years, I have never braided my hair and have straight hair. Sometimes I miss my long hair and also thick and strong braid. One and half year back, a notorious word came in my life and that was “Hair Fall” which was cured by the one and only Dove Damage Therapy – Big Thanks to Dove.”

Thanks Indiblogger for giving us such platform where we can share our views and stories.

A Big Thanks to Dove Split End Rescue System
