Beer Wednesday Thai Style

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

It doesn’t have the same alliteration as Wine Wednesday but I didn’t dare drink the wine in Thailand. Now, I am sure that there is quality wine to be found somewhere in the country I just didn’t see it. The few bottles we did see were either imported and really over priced or an interesting fruit combination like mangosteen squash. Seriously. I should have taken a picture of the label!

What did we drink in Thailand? Beer. A few here and there to enjoy a variety of local brews. Our favorites:

Chang

Cheers (even the name makes me laugh)

Leo (actually had a Tiger for a logo)

Singha (decent but not great)

We were feeling especially brave one night when we went out and tried the local Thai whiskey. It was pretty strong and most drink it straight. Considering I drink Scotch I figured it would be pretty easy to do. Um… not so much. Normally I am a straight up or neat kind of girl but this stuff burned so much I added ice and then ended up ordering a Coke to lessen the burn.

Lesson learned that evening? I stopped with one glass while a few others kept going. They were wearing sunglasses and napping when I saw them

We had a blast attempting to rock out to a local band that didn’t speak a word of English and had the most boring stage presence I’ve ever seen. But we did end up having a blast that night, even with the boring band.
