Covington, Indiana has a very large dinner option just perfect for the steak and seafood lovers in your group: Beef House Restaurant.

Known for aged beef, you can’t miss the large refrigerated case of beef as you make your way inside!

This place is massive! Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the highway, I suppose they needed a place to match the size of the tourist population. My goodness. It was bustling! I wish there was a way to turn them on to the lovely downtown, too!

Even so, we did not have too long a wait. We were seated at a table at the edge of the dining perimeter. It was great for people watching! Some folks wore jeans and t-shirts while others were obviously out for a special occasion.

Somehow, it all worked. Even though we had tromped through the Portland Arch Trail, a handful of cemeteries, and all over the town, we still felt like we fit in just fine. Strange how that happens.

From our vantage point we could easily see the kitchen at work at Beef House Restaurant– and could watch steaks cooked over hardwood briquets on the open hearth charcoal broiler. Kind of neat!

Okay, so this menu was almost overwhelmingly large! Everything from frog legs to chicken livers was on the Beef House Restaurant’s menu. They definitely have a large selection of beef!

In the end, I chose the Petite Filet Mignon and hubs went for the Marinated New York Strip Steak. Kid #1 was thrilled to see shrimp on the kid’s menu and Kid #2 wanted a hamburger.

Our meal came with the salad bar but…we were seriously exhausted  after our Indiana town exploration. There was frequently a long line and…we just didn’t have it in us. Not even for all of you! Before we sat down (and realized how tired we really were) I did take a peek and a pic or two.

It looked very nice and fresh. Oh, and an exceedingly popular of this Fountain County restaurant!

I didn’t even tell you about our delicious, soft fresh-baked rolls with a choice of strawberry jam and apple butter! I didn’t tell you about my monster baked potato absolutely loaded with butter and sour cream (oh my word).

I also didn’t tell you about my yummy steak. We both preferred my Filet Mignon over hub’s Marinated New York Strip). This is little Indiana.
