Bee Venom Mask

Abeeco Bee Venom Mask: reduce fine lines and improve the tautness of your skin.

In the world of luxury beauty, very few products have the mysterious allure that bee venom products are surrounded with.  Over the past few years the products have gone from quiet whispers (“I heard Princess Kate covers her face in bee venom.”) to revered (and sometimes feared) spa treatments and now they are finally available for the everygirl.

Well, the evergirl that has $90.00 to drop on a skincare product, that is. But in my opinion, if you’re going to drop your skincare savings on something new and fun….this is an excellent choice! Especially if you have fine lines or a little bit-o-sag that you want to firm & plump.

The Abeeco Bee Venom Mask ($90.00) works by tricking the skin into thinking it has been lightly stung. When we’re stung, our skin produces collagen and elastin—-two natural chemicals that help keep skin tight and youthful. So, you might be wondering—-what’s it like to smear bee venom on your entire face? Here’s my experience:

A couple weeks ago I got the Abeeco Bee Venom Mask in the mail. Of course I couldn’t wait to use it, so that afternoon I did a small test patch (to make sure I wasn’t allergic) and that evening I did a full face mask. You want to cover your entire face with a thin layer of the product (doesn’t take much) and avoid sensitive areas like the eyes and lips. I found that the product is kind of like handling jalapenos—–you want to make sure you immediately wash your hands with soap & water. Then you relax for 20 minutes! During this time you will notice that your skin will get slightly warm and a little tingly. The sensation should be noticeable but not uncomfortable. After about 10 minutes your skin may redden or even look slightly raised/welted in the areas where you applied the product. As long as you aren’t uncomfortable this should be a normal reaction. When time is up, rinse it off, pat skin dry and apply an all-natural moisturizer (I live and die for Skin Savior from One Love Organics or the ED4OLO Serum). After the mask you’ll notice that skin is more taught, luminous and fine lines are visibly plumped up! I found that this “plumping” effect wore off a bit within a couple hours—-but the product states that results are cumulative. So, you can assume that the results will increase with each treatment.

I was so impressed with the results after one mask that I started using a small dab of the cream each night. I don’t have many wrinkles yet (knock on wood) but I do have this one bugger of a wrinkle across the upper bridge of my nose (right between my eyes), so I decided to see what the bee venom could do for filling it in. I have been really impressed. After only 10 days I would say the wrinkle appeared 70% less noticeable and with continued application I’m hopeful that it will be a distant memory soon!

Summary: This isn’t a miracle product that a 70 year old woman will smear on her face and suddenly have the skin of a 39 year old. But, I do think this product is a dream for gals in their late 20s or early 30s who have fine lines that they would like to reduce….or would like a product that they can keep in the cupboard, put on for 20 minutes, and instantly have skin that appears firmer and more luminous. This product has me really excited and curious about other bee venom based products such as the Lip Plumper.

**The Abeeco Bee Venom Mask was received free for review. I only post about the products I really love.**
