Beauty Update: Think Pink

By Bbeautylove @bbeautylove

Hi guys,

We have had almost a full week of sunshine here in the UK, so it is definitely time to look in your make up bag and give things a quick re-jig, swapping richer shades for something a lot more fresh, light and vibrant. Hot pinks, vibrant fuchsia and Barbie-esque colours were a huge trend on the S/S catwalks so there is no easier way to look on trend than with these quick pink updates…

Pink looks great on everyone, from the very pale to the very dark the trick is just knowing which shade of pink to opt for. The lighter your complexion, the rosier you should go. The more tanned or deep your skintone, the richer and more vibrant you can go. But as with all make up, there are no concrete rules, just find something that works for you and go for it.

On the face, blusher is the best way to inject a pop of color and nowadays there is a shade and a texture for you, whether it is a cream, powder, liquid or gel. My favourites? I love Benefit’s Posie Tint as it is sheer, easy to apply and a really girly pink that looks great on blondes. I also adore Accessorize’s Baked Blushers for a blush/highlighter in one and this one (called Sensation) is a slightly deeper pink but very wearable and really perks up the skin. Revlon‘s cream blush in Flushed is also divine and a lot richer in tone but sheer enough to wear in the day. Or, for the perfect personal pink, try Cargo’s Cheek Activator in Rose Flush, which is a liquid blush that develops on your skin to give you the perfect rosy glow.

On the eyes it is a little more tricky to wear pink as you don’t want to use the wrong shade as it can make eyes look sore, red and puffy. For a  fail safe on pale skins, opt for a champagne pink or something on the cooler side that you can work into the lid with softer brown hues. This will soften the look, but also allow some of the pink to show through, adding slight interest to your everyday eye make up. I love this Max Factor Smoky Effect Eye Shadow Duo in Pink Plume. If you have darker skin or fancy going all Nicki Minaj, then Rimmel do a great single eyeshadow called Pop Your Pink which is a true shocking pink shade. Great used wet as a liner or all over the lid for maximum drama. However, this shade is quite sheer and will need building up to get a full opaque color. Urban Decay, Too Faced, MAC and Sleek also do some great pink eyeshadows.

And finally, probably the easiest place to wear pink (apart from your nails) is on your lips. Whether it is a gloss, lipstick, sheer stain or a tinted balm you can easily work a pink pout into your everyday make up routine. If I am going for a low maintenance look for daytime I love tinted lip balms, like the Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart or one of the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse shades (I really like Lovely Rose). For something a little more opaque but soft for daytime, try Collection’s Creme Puff in Cotton Candy which dries matte and lasts for ages on the lips. At night time add some drama with a more vivid shade like Topshop Lips in All About Me or one of the Rimmel Stay Glossy shades. These are really pigmented and shiny, with my favorite being Fuchsia Fever which is perfect for nights out.

So those are my favorite pink picks from my make up stash (I know I haven’t included nail polish but I can always do a separate post if that is something you would like to see). I hope your enjoyed this post and leave me a comment telling me your favorite pink products.
