Beauty and the Beach Competition

By Natalieroseanne @clutzyprincess
Hey guys :), this is a first for me, an entry to a competition - involving hair, makeup and nails. Travelsupermarket are running a competition at the moment to create a look for hair, makeup and nails fit for the beach. I was nominated by Georgina, for Makeup-Pixi3 blog, and so I thought why not. Lets enter!
The theme of the competition is Beauty and the beach, I decided to base my look on mermaids.

Eyes:

To create the eye look I first applied my primeer (Just Fab Cosmetics Eye Primer). I then took Shade 1 (from MUA Pastel Palette) and all over eye lid up to brow bone. After this I took shade 5 (from the same palette) and applied it all over lid, as well as under the bottom lashes. I next tookbarry m dazzle dust in shade 81 and applied it in the inner eye corner of my eye, running under the inner corner of the bottom lash too. After this I took an elf shadow, I shade d21. blended from the outside to the middle of the eye lid. I blended in the blue colours on my lid together, to create more flow  to the eye look. Next I took Inika’s eye liner, in graphite, and ran this across my lashes, and on the water line on my bottom lashes. Finally I got my Lush Eyes Right Mascara and applied to coats on my top lashes and one on my bottom lashes.

Face:

I didn’t use a bb cream or foundation for this look, as I currently have a tan and thought it would go well with this look (showing off my freckles). I used Inika Brow Liner (in brunette) to color in my eye brows. To cover any blemishes I used miss sporty liquid concealer in 001 light (even with a tan this still blended in… gutted :P). For my cheeks I used the MUA mosaic blusher, and ran it across my cheeks and slightly up passed it towards my eyes.

Lips:

For my lips, I first used Lush Lip Scrub, to soften and rejuvenate my lips. Next I added Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain (in Cherish devotion) and finally added a layer of MeMeMe Light Me Up Gloss to add a shimmer to my lips.
And this created my overall look. Big blue eyes and a soft pink pouty lip. With a little shimmer across my face.

Hair:

Beauty and the Beach CompetitionFor my hair I wanted to do something easy to do, that gave a mermaid look. I found this style on youtube and thought it would fit perfectly with the mermaid style. To create this look, you bring you hair over your shoulder and split it into two sections. You tie up one section, so to work on the other section. You then split this into 3 and start on an inverted plait (bringing one section under the other, instead of over). Once you’ve plaited this section you tie it up and plait the other. Once you have both sections plaited and tied, you take one and start to pull slightly on the “bumps” only on the outsides, to get the plaits more volume. Do you this on both sections. You now have to plaits, and you want to bring them together. This bit is simple, you put the plaits together and use grips (bobby pins) under the plaits, attaching them together.Once you’ve done the mermaid plait, I took my fringe and plaited it off my face. I think this look doesn’t need a side fringe, and looks a lot more beachy with my fringe plaited away. I finally took a little bit of hair (on the opposite side of the plait) and curled it. Just adding a little extra to the look.Beauty and the Beach CompetitionBeauty and the Beach Competition

Nails:

For my nails I wanted to go with the mermaid theme, but was a little unsure of how to go about this. I decided to use blue and green polishes to create a look, and two different glitters as well.Beauty and the Beach Competition
Beauty and the Beach CompetitionI first started with my favorite base coat. I, then, applied Essie Bikini So Teeny onto all my nails. Once this was dry, I used masking tapes on my two accent nails and created a triangle looking gap to add the design to my accent nails. I used Essie Mojita Madness to create green triangles on my accent nails. Next I used an Essie Luxe Effect in Pure Pearlifection on all of my nails, to add a subtle light glitter onto the design. Finally on my accent nails I added another Essie Luxe Effect in Set In Stones, to really make the accent nails stand out. To finish my nails, I added Seche Vite top coat.I really loved the overall look for these nails, especially the accent nails.Beauty and the Beach Competition
