@BearGrylls Survival Stories

By Pamelascott

World-renowned adventurer and broadcaster, Bear Grylls, presents some of the most incredible near-death experiences, told by those who lived to tell the tale. These extraordinary and diverse accounts of human bravery, mental and physical strength - and sometimes sheer luck - range from being stranded for more than 50 days at sea, to surviving world-changing acts of terrorism.

Bear contextualises each feat of endurance or bravery by relating them to his own experiences of near-misses and misfortune from his military career and survivalist adventures. Listeners will experience the first-hand retelling of acts of quick thinking and gruelling struggles of those who found themselves in some of the most extreme circumstances imaginable.

I enjoyed every episode of this podcast. Grylls presents the story of numerous people, men and women who have survived despite horrific odds. Each story is very different and the survivors are men and women from all walks of life. I particularly enjoyed the episode about someone who survived 9/11 and the collapse of the World Trade Centre. There is an episode about a woman who slipped crossing an ice bridge and went beneath the snow and was only saved when a hiker returned to the area, noticed her pack and saw her eyes staring out of the ice when he went over to examine the pack. This gave me the chills. The men and women here are much braver than me. If I found myself in a similar situation I'd have a complete meltdown. I feel humbled after listening to this.
