Sabtang is an island in Batanes; this destination was part of our itinerary and its landscapes blew me away. The stunning views and distinct culture made the short boat ride worth it.
These are some of the attractions you'll see during your stay.
You'll immediately see the lighthouse as the boat approaches the port.
The Sabtang Church is near the port; the Dominicans had a small chapel constructed on the same site as the church back in 1785. Since then it has survived calamities and an uprising.
This was my favorite spot during the entire trip around Batanes. Chamantad provides spectacular views of the rock formations, hills and the sea. You can insert all possible adjectives to describe the place. The rugged landscape is characteristic of the beauty of this province. Spend as much time walking to various viewpoints, it will be all worth it.
Savidug Village
This traditional village provides visitors with a glimpse of local culture and creativity. Here you'll find different types of stone houses such as jinjin, maytuab and sinadumparan.
Chavayan Village
Chavayan is another traditional village you can visit while in Sabtang. There are many stone houses here. Walk around and you might meet friendly locals willing to start a conversation.
This beautiful beach has white sand and cerulean waters. If you have time, you can go swimming or just wade in the waters. This is where you'll also find the famous natural arch.
A trip around Sabtang's main attractions is short and sweet. You can see the highlights as long as you start early.

How to Get to Sabtang
Your first step is to get to Basco, there are multiple direct flights from either Clark or Manila. Book flights months before your planned trip to get the cheapest possible return tickets. From Basco, hire a tricycle to take you to Ivana this costs approximately P440 for two people round way. At the port, board a faluwa (boat) to Sabtang this costs around P100 per person. Go early as possible because the boat leaves at around 6am to 7am and returns to Ivana at around 1pm to 2pm.
