Barca Suffer at Hands of Villareal

By Stizzard

It was a much needed point for Villareal and it didn’t do too much good to Barcelona’s title hopes. Barcelona came away with a 0-0 draw at the madrigal last night and left 3 vital points on the table. With Real Madrid beating Zaragoza with a comfortable 3-1 win, the merengues now find themselves 7 points clear at the top of the table.

Pep wasn’t too concerned confronting the press after the match stating that it’s better to be 5 points behind rather than 7. It was a fast and furious game, end to end stuff with Villareal putting their best foot forward and bringing the game to Barcelona. It wasn’t Messi’s night either, the little Argentinian squandered a few chances with the best one just going wide of the post after cheekily chipping the Villareal keeper.

Villareal had their chances too and even had a goal disallowed for offside. There were a few upsets too with Villareal claiming a clear penalty and the then Barcelona claiming a red card which turned out to be yellow after a Villareal player went in a bit too harsh on a Barca player.

So, with the league table showing Real Madrid sitting pretty with 7 clear points, Barca now have to face Valencia in La Copa del Rey semi final. With Andrés Iniesta out for 3 weeks that means Pep has to look to his younger players to fill the gap.
