Well well well, this week’s wrap up is interrupted by none other than sk8r grrl herself. Not too many moons ago, Canada’s royal couple, Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger, of Nickelback infamy, sealed the deal on their love with a huge (gigantico) pear shaped diamond. Her original, 14.01 carat pear shape (with additional pear shape side stones) must not have been cutting it, because Chad surprised her for their anniversary with a SEVENTEEN carat diamond.

One year of wedded bliss earned Avril the insanely huge emerald cut, and she was more than happy to show it off on Twitter, saying:
“I still can’t believe my 1 year anniversary gift. 17 carat emerald cut. Wow. I love my hubby.”
Yeah, diamonds will have that effect. But, they genuinely seem happy together, and well suited. I hope that the ring is nothing more than an amazing violation of the paper as traditional first year anniversary gift rule. And not,like, something with Kobe-esque implications (thanks Lainey Gossip for that angle.) And in case you’re craving some emerald cut yumminess, please, indulge with me.
