Author Spotlight and Interview with Annie Wood Author of Dandy Day

By Gpangel @gpangel1
AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT AND INTERVIEW WITH ANNIE WOOD AUTHOR OF DANDY DAYI am so happy to have Annie Wood with us today to talk about her novella "Dandy Day" , skating, Hollywood couples and more!
You are also an actress. What inspired you to try your hand at writing?
I’ve actually been writing as long as I’ve been acting. I wrote my first story at age eight, my first comedic scene as a teenager and my first play in my early twenties. My book of short stories, "Where Would I Be Without Me?" (on Amazon) was published in 2000. I’ve also written screenplays and original TV pilots. I’m a member of the Writer’s Guild and my goal is to work in TV comedy. "Dandy Day" is my first novel though. Novella, actually. I prefer shorter stories.
Writing is in the blood for me. My father was an unhappy attorney so I, at the age of fifteen, I convinced him to take an early retirement so he could pursue his real love, writing. I told him that it was never too late to live the life he wants. To his credit, he listened to his daughter and did just that. My dad has written more than 50 plays.
Do you like to rollerblade?
No but I LOVED roller skating. Old school skates are my fav. It was a very big deal in the valley, where I grew up, to go to the roller ring every weekend in the 80s. I have a pair of white roller skates that I sometimes wear when I host a party. I have hardwood floors.
Who is your favorite on screen couple? ( movie or TV)
Just one? Ohh… I so love this question. Harry and Sally (after Harry gets his act together) Harold and Maude and Cary Grant and Rosalind Russel in My Man Godfrey. Also, I used to like the relationship between Patricia Arquette’s character and the guy who played her husband on the TV show Medium. (random, I know.) I used to love Mad About You’s Paul and Jamie but I watched it recently and realized that they bicker too much.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing my second novel (or most likely novella) Martin’s Theory. About a lonely middle-aged man who finds the love of his life in a parallel life. It’s another romantic comedy. I’m also getting ready to shoot season 2 of my web-series, "Karma’s a B*tch."
