Army Wife: A Story of Love and Family in the Heart of the Army by Vicki Cody

As part of The Magic of Memoir Blog Tour, Part 1, I read Army Wife: A Story of Love and Family in the Heart of the Army by Vicki Cody, but forgot to tell you all about the book so here it is – better late than never, right?

This is a great book written by author and wife, Vicki Cody.  She’s the wife of retired four-star Army General and former assistant Chief of Staff of the Army, Dick Cody.  This story is a moving and poignant tribute to love, marriage, family, and the men and women who serve this nation.

In Amy Wife, Vicki Cody tells their story from when they first met, his years at West Point, the next 33 years of service to our country. She gives readers an in-depth look at their efforts and results of keeping their marriage strong, raising a family, creating a home and dealing with the life of the Army’s forced separations and stresses

The author shares her struggle when her sons choose to follow in their father’s footsteps.  She is faced with the real challenge of a mother and wife, trying to balance the needs of her family with the position of her husband, Dick. She shares the very true and authentic version of what it’s like to be a real army wife, when the family moves multiple times, being a single parent at times when her husband was at war. Readers learn about the ups and downs and the fears associated with the challenges of living the military life.
