Are You Heading Off On a RTW Trip in 2015? Living the Dream is Hiring!

By Livingthedreamrtw @livingdreamrtw
Are You Heading Off On a RTW Trip in 2015? Living the Dream is Hiring! I'm really excited for this announcement, because it is something we've been talking about doing for a very long time.
Living the Dream is hiring!
Yes, after covering two long-term trips of our own, over 650 days of travel and 66 countries since 2008, we are expanding.  Since it is difficult for us to personally keep heading off on long-term trips, we're looking to hire other travel writers who are heading off on epic journeys of their own!
So if you are a new blogger looking to increase your exposure while earning some extra money for your own RTW trip, this position is for you!  (Photo "Notes on Wood" by christgr)
Requirements
Although all of these requirements are flexible for the right match, we are looking for travelers who meet the following criteria:
  • Heading off on a long-term trip in 2015 (we're flexible with departure dates).
  • Have a tentative end date for the long-term trip and no plans to travel perpetually.
    • Although we fully support nomadic travel, we are searching for those who can provide end of trip recaps with financials, stats, etc. as this is a very important component of long-term travel planning we need to cover.
  • Able to provide 400+ word articles with images once every 5-10 days. (3-6 per month)
  • Willing to share images on Living the Dream's Facebook page 2-4 times per week.
 That is it!
Our Offering
Okay, now we're getting to the important part.  What can we offer you in return?
Staff writers for Living the Dream are offered the following:
  • Payment of $25 per post paid monthly via PayPal.
    • Any earnings of more than $600 in a calendar year will require us to issue a 1099-MISC tax form if you are a US citizen or are a non-citizen and worked on articles while in the USA.  Sorry, can't avoid this one.
  • Promotion of your blog via author profiles, internal linking in blog posts, tags in social media updates, and through our own marketing channels.
    • Living the Dream currently receives 17,500 monthly page views and has 30,000 followers on social media between Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
  • Access to our partners for media assignments when available.
    • Article placements from these will be unpaid in exchange for coverage.
  • Our personal assistance in helping with any blogging questions you may have for your site.
  • Complimentary access to a new service we'll be launching in a few months (sorry for being candid here, but we have to for now!).
For new writers, we'd like to think that beats out the free guest post market by a long shot!
The Travelers We're Looking For
If you're still with us after reading our requirements and offering, then great!   Now we need to get into the details of the type of travelers we're looking for.  Although we're completely flexible, we need you to define some attributes about yourself.   We do not have any hard requirements with these, so think of them more as a getting to know you question set to see if you'd be a good fit.
Questions we are curious to know include:
  • Who are you (where are you from, what did you do, how old are you)?
  • What are your travel plans (where are you going, what is your style, what is your budget)?
  • What is your blog (what niche do you cover, what do you write about)?
  • What topics would you like to write about on Living the Dream?
  • What is "Living the Dream" to you?
  • ...and more along those lines
Our main goal with hiring staff writers is simple: to fill the void of what we are not.  Are you a luxury traveler or extremely thrifty?  That is different from us.  Heading to destinations we have not?  That is different from us.  Are you retired or a family?  That is different from us.  Planning to volunteer, work, or travel on a theme?  That is different from us.
The above are just a few of the numerous types of long-term travelers we'd like to hear from and have write on our site because as one twenty-something couple, we simply cannot do it all ourselves.  As our quest is to transform Living the Dream into the premier long-term travel planning website for travelers of all styles, we need you!
The key, and really only requirement we have, is that you must have passion to help others travel the world on a long-term trip.  That is why we started this site, why we always include planning tips that you just cannot find anywhere else on the internet, and is also why we share detailed spending log from every country we visit.  If this goal resonates with you, please fill out our application form!
If you are interested in applying, please head over to our application form on Google Docs to get started!  We estimate the form could take 30 minutes to complete depending on how much detail you include, but may be longer if you want to be thorough.
Meet Us In Person
If you are planning on traveling to the TBEX Cancun or TBEX Athens travel bloggers conferences this year, please let us know.  We would love to meet you in person to get to know you better!   We will both be in Cancun for the conference in September and I (Jeremy) will be in Athens for the conference in October.
For all applications, please note that attending is not required to be accepted for this position.
Deadline
We have no fixed deadline for when applications need to be received.  We are looking to hire up to 3 staff writers between now and mid-2015 and are more than happy to wait for the right candidates even if it means a later start date due to your travel plans.  As long as you can start this position before the beginning of your trip (ideally 4-8 weeks at a minimum to cover pre-trip topics) and have a reasonable end date to follow it to conclusion on this site, we're looking for you.
As with all positions of this nature, we cannot guarantee that our availability will be open forever, so even if you are traveling later in 2015 and have reasonable plans put together, apply now!   If you are the best fit, we will wait for you.
If you have any questions about the positions we are offering here at Living the Dream, please email us at [email protected].  Otherwise please submit your application at our Google Docs form to get started!
