Apple Is Going Head to Head with iHeart Music Festival With Apple Music Fest: Domain Regs Say So

Posted on the 28 August 2015 by Worldwide @thedomains

Is Apple planning on going head to head with Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio.com which has its music festival called iHeart Radio Music Festival?

Well, Apple Inc. registered 11 new domain names relating to a Music Festival on August 4, 2015. Those new domain names are: AppleiTunesMusicFestival.com, AppleMusicConcert.com, AppleMusicConcerts.com, AppleMusicEvents.com, AppleMusicFest.com, AppleMusicFestival.com, AppleMusicFestivals.com, AppleMusicReviews.com, AppleMusicShow.com, AppleMusicTicket.com and AppleMusicTickets.com.

The iHeart music festival is scheduled for September 18th & 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Apple Music Festival just so happens to be….. September 19th – 28th 2015!

According to Wikipeida:

The Apple Music Festival (formerly known as the iTunes Festival) is a music concert series sponsored by Apple Inc.; first held in 2007. Free tickets are given to Apple Music and iTunes users and fans, who live in the United Kingdom, through localized prize draws. Performances are also streamed live and available to view afterwards, free of charge, for a limited time on Apple Music, iTunes and Apple TV.

In London, the Apple Music Festival has become an annual music festival which takes place in September at The Roundhouse art center in Camden Town.

The series made its United States debut with five days of free performances at the Moody Theater in March 2014, alongside the South by Southwest (SXSW) music showcase in Austin, Texas.

In August 2015, the iTunes Festival was rebranded as the Apple Music Festival.

Well, Apple Inc. didn’t waste any time and has put one of the newly registered domain name AppleMusicFestival.com to use! That site states:

Apple Music Festival is a full-volume celebration of music. It’s live from London and broadcast to every corner of the globe. This year, we return to London’s Roundhouse for 10 incredible nights.

Apple did a press release on August 18, 2015 announcing the Apple Music Festival to include performers:

Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Florence + The Machine and Disclosure are among the headliners at the 2015 Apple Music™ Festival at London’s Roundhouse this September. Apple will broadcast performances to music fans around the world for free, which can be viewed live and on-demand on Apple Music. The Apple Music Festival lets fans get even closer to their favorite performers with coverage on Beats 1℠ alongside backstage news and footage straight from the artists on Apple Music Connect.

Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue stated:

“We wanted to do something really special for music fans this year,”

“The Apple Music Festival is a greatest hits set of ten unbelievable nights featuring some of the best performers on the planet appearing live and interacting directly with their fans on Connect and Beats 1.”

iHeart states on its website about there concert:

For the fifth year in a row, the biggest musical festival in the world will take over Sin City’s MGM Grand Garden Arena for some mind-blowing action. From the iHeartRadio app to the actual MGM stage, all of your favorite artists will be on one stage over the course of two nights to connect with fans from all over the world.

So one may now question the statement “the biggest musical festival in the world”?

Seems like a competition to me with two competing music festivals / streaming services that just so happen to start 1 day apart!

Apple has also set a September 9, 2015 date for an event, which may include more announcements around  the newly branded Apple Music Festival

Apple has its Apple Radio, and Clear Channel has its iHeart Radio. Both have streaming music services with Apple Music and Beats Music and apps and now the Music Festivals both start 1 day apart, with a rebrand for Apple as well. In general, Apple isn’t known to register a bunch of domain names, although they own over 8,000, so it appears they are putting some more focus on the Apple Music Festival to compete with iHeart!
