Another 7 Figure Domain Name Sale? Futbol.com is Sold

Posted on the 27 July 2015 by Worldwide @thedomains

GoDaddy.com has sold the premium domain name Futbol.com which is the word that most of the world outside of the US refers to as Soccer.

The domain name Futbol.com was one of the 200,000+ domain names that Godaddy bought from Marchex or $28.1 Million in April of this year.

I broke the news on TheDomains that GoDaddy sold Beijing.com in May, shortly after they acquired the Marchex portfolio in what was very likely a 7 figure transaction. The Beijing.com sale even had some chatter (in the comment section) to be around $6-$7 Million but that is unconfirmed.

Therefore, although we are speculating,  Futbol.com may be the second highest priced domain sold out of the old Marchex portfolio to date.

Futbol.com went into whois privacy on July 23, 2015, so the buyers are currently unknown. The domain is resolving with a Futbol logo on it and a stat counter currently.

I reached out to Paul Nicks from GoDaddy who confirmed the sale of Futbol.com but declined providing the sales price.

There is a new gTLD .Futbol which is owned by Rightside.

Currently, .Futbol  has over 4,600 domain names registered and the domain name Play.Futbol for example is priced at $60K per year.

Last week we pointed out that Land.com was sold in what we know is a seven figure transaction which is another .Com that has a matching gTLD.

You can read more from the IcannWiki page about .Futbol and get the latest stats on .Futbol here from NTLDstats.com
