An Evening Walk in Blue

   Last week end, I bought some larger sheets of Pastel cards. After the outdoor trials of July holidays, I wanted to try some larger views made out of pictures shot earlier this year, using the same painting surface. 
The challenge was : not to draw too much, and try, as much as I can, to give a sense of the atmosphere I found on this evening, in Padstow. 
I believe I could render a little of this pale contrast, pink light, blue and yellow shades : a very low sunset over the little port. However, I was not comfortable with the result… Maybe too much going on in the composition. 
Anyway, here it is :

Shall I consider this as a first attempt? Shall I come back to this view, maybe in oil, or maybe with a more abstracted work? Somehow, getting to know there is nothing certain while dealing with painting… get out of your comfort!
