The Blog Event of the year begins today with Girlxoxo, EstellasRevenge, and Traveling with T hosting the month-long jam-packed list of topics.
To kick off the month, let’s take a look back at the year.
My Goodreads goal set way back in January, was to read 85 books. . .adding the books we judged for the Inspy’s I way surpass that goal. . .without the Inspy’s books, I’m still a few short.
Top 3 genres read this year
- Thanks to being an Advisory Judge for the Inspys, Christian Fiction tops out the list at 42%
- Suspense/Thriller/Mystery ~ 20 titles
- Children’s {I did not individually count the 27x the little monkey and I read Louise Loves Art before the wee man started “reading” it to me!} ~ 14 unique titles đŸ˜‰
How I read
More than 3/4 of the books I read were actual physical copies. Only 3 books were audio and the rest were either pdf or kindle versions.
February and March were my busiest months reading with the summer being when I read the least.
A few stats
- Books written by female authors 76%. . . .leaving 24% by male authors.
- Books in Translation: 6
- Re-reads: 3 {not counting picture books}
One stat I did not keep up with but will figure out by end of the year is how many diverse authors I read.
2015 Favorites
There are a few standouts on my shelves, but I have to leave you guessing til later in the month. . . A couple of hints though for 3 of my faves {mostly updated Goodreads list here}
- Book ?: An Inspy favorite. Novel that can appeal to both readers of christian fiction and mainstream fiction. Dietrich Bonhoeffer is a supporting character.
- Book ?: Suspense/Mystery/Thriller set in Canada. Bosnian War of early 90’s figures into the plot.
- Book ?: Contemporary fiction. Movie-version starred Julianne Moore.
