Hi IreviewUreaders! We're going to touch on another Althea Korea product. However, this time things are going to be a bit different for this is a very special Althea product. In fact, it's their very first brand product! Launched in 1 st August, the Althea Petal Velvet powder is a translucent loose powder which aims to leave your skin flawless and velvet smooth. Aside from that, this Korean face powder acts as a good setting powder for oily skin and a longwearing finishing powder.
In addition to that, it creates a matte finish on your skin without dehydrating it. The best part about all of this is, only natural and cruelty-free ingredients were used to create this amazing product.
However, before we get into the characteristics of the product, let's admire this media kit. It ranks as one of the best-looking media kit I've received. As seen, those decorations are real dried flowers and fruit pieces. The scent from them is amazing! They even gave this cute Instagram border - bringing Instagram to real life so that we all can have an Instagram-ception.
Anyways, talking about borders. I noticed something which I can't help but to stare. It's the side of the packaging. It looks very familiar.
It was then, I looked at the Althea box the media kit came in. Oh My Gosh, they even designed the packaging of the new brand product to look like a miniature version of their signature Althea box. That's so smart!

The Holy Ingredient
As mentioned above, this loose powderis made with all natural ingredients derived from Korea. In fact, this all comes down to 1 holy ingredient used in the formula
Althea flower seed extract
The Althea flower is filled with antioxidants that protects the skin's barrier from dehydration. In addition to that, it invigorates the skin for a beautiful complexion. The Althea flower seed extract also help to increase the skin's moisture level and protects the skin from the sun. How? The polyphenols help protects the skin from adverse effects caused by sun exposure and ultraviolet radiation. Plus, the Saponarins in the extract helps repair damaged skin cells and restore elasticity to prematurely aging skin.
One ingredient and so much uses. Now you understand why I called this the holy ingredient.
Hufflepuff Puff
Aside from the amazing lightweight formula, the product also comes with a 13mm thick fluffly puff which is so soft and nice to touch. I felt like I was touching a cloud. A velvety cloud which I could sleep in.
How to use a translucent powder?
Now the question of how do I use a loose powder/ translucent powder? Well, as seen from its other name, the setting powder, one can just gently dab it all over your face after you've finished your makeup to set it and have it last longer.

The Review
Enough of the jibber jabber, time to get into the reviewing part. Like many translucent powder, the Althea Petal Velvet powder is a transparent powder which helps set your makeup and allow your makeup to last longer. However, unlike other translucent powder this Korean loose powder gives off a distinct floral fragrance which I would assume is the Althea flower extract. Let's just say, I could not get sick of smelling the powder - I'm not a crackhead. Maybe a person who is obsessed with floral scented products but not a crackhead.
Psst. Although the powder might look white over here but it's actually translucent. In short, it will magically become transparent once you pat it into your skin/makeup.
Besides that, with just a layer of setting powder, I could see the differences in the visibility of my pores. It was as if I've applied the airbrush filter in real life - incredible! Aside from the flawless complexion, my skin did look like it's been mattified, allowing my skin look soft and smooth at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised when my skin did not feel as dry as I thought it would be after applying the powder - must be because of the holy ingredient.
Does it last?
Now time to test out it's longevity. One of the most common problem which I have with my makeup is my eyeliner 'walking away', disappearing or just smudging everywhere by the end of the day or even in the middle of the day. There was even one time I had to remove my eyeliner in a public toilet after just a few hours out because it was smudged beyond repair. Yes, Singapore is that hot and humid plus my oily skin or at least my oily lids only made things worst.
Thus, with this setting powder my aim is to have my eyeliner last longer. In this test, which I've conducted above - why does this sounds like a research paper - I've used the translucent powder as a primer for my lids before I apply the eyeliner and after I've applied the eyeliner. Initially I thought I should apply another layer of eyeliner for the powder might dull the darkness but it did not - one point to the transparent powder!
After the application, I went out into the hot sun and after a few hours and came back when the sun is behind the moon. As seen from above, my eyeliner did not smudge or even moved. The only part which seemed gone was from the middle portion of my right eye. I'm not quite sure if that was because of my inadequacy of applying the perfect liner beforehand or the fact that I may have rubbed it off. Nevertheless, I was still ecstatic by how the eyeliner did not smudge downwards or mysteriously disappear like it normally do. That was a huge step for me or should I say my eyeliner.
In addition to that, my eyelids were not as shiny or even shiny as it normally would be.
All in all I would give the Althea Petal Velvet powder 5 ireviewuread smiles for as seen from the bottom of the packaging, it's simply perfect. It is long-lasting, non-dehydrating and helps control one's sebum. What I love about it is the fact my pores were instantly airbrushed after just one application.
