Altes Brauhaus, Koblenz, Germany

By Richard Randall @aude11360

While in Koblenz for a few days I decided to visit Altes Brauhaus for lunch, and needless to say a couple of beers. It is a large pub/bar very close the the Rathaus.

They carry a selection of Konigsbacher beers, along with a few others. There is also an extensive food menu, with very good value daily specials on offer for just under 10€. The only negative point, is the fact that there is no outside seating.

For lunch I ordered the daily special which was a pork steak topped with onions and a fried egg, served with sautéed potatoes.
Mrs.R chose a curry schnitzel served with plain rice, and a mixed salad. The schnitzel was smothered in a curry sauce of dubious ingredients, including tinned pineapple and peach slices, and kiwi fruit. Yep, kiwi fruit. Mrs.R said it was the strangest thing she’s ever eaten. She said there are some things that should never ever be curried, and kiwi fruit is definitely one of them. I concur.
