My first brush with Alila resorts must have been about 2005, when I first visited Alila Ubud in Bali. Blown away by the beautiful infinity pool, outdoor showers and left speechless after my first hot stone massage, I always remembered and recommended the hotel to friends. I went back at the end of 2012, and spent new year’s eve watching beautiful fireworks from the poolside of the hotel.
This time, I was delighted with the new soaps that they introduced in the bathrooms, so instead of nicking them from the rooms (okay I admit I did take a soap bar or two back!) I visited the hotel shop, where they had a full range of bath amenities, facial and beauty products.

I guess Alila must have realised how much their guests and even travel magazine editors love their products, so they’ve introduced an online store which ships worldwide!

Hanya Yanagihara, Editor at Large Condé Nast Traveler USA raves, “These are, hands down, the best hotel-brand amenities I’ve ever encountered. “

Here’s an introduction to their products, a recommendation of my favourites, and also the base worldwide shipping costs so that you have an idea how much it’ll add up to.

The Alila Living brand is a signature feature across the Alila Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio in Indonesia and India, and now their Balinese-inspired and community-driven Alila Living product range is available for purchase online.

The natural, organic range includes therapeutic skin care products for both ‘him and her’, from massage oils and body scrubs to body milk and facial toners all available to continue the Alila experience at home and evoke fond holiday memories.

In line with the growing trend of “green” products, Alila Living products are free from parabens, sodium laurel sulphate, petrochemicals, synthetic substances, and artificial color or fragrance. So you can be sure that none of their products are damaging to your body and also the environment.

My Favourites

Insect Repellant
This came in handy when we were dining outdoors on the lawn next to the restaurant. The absence of lemongrass and citronella (so overdone in insect repellants!) was a welcome change! This one has lavender, lemon myrtle and rose geranium, to leave you smelling too good for the bugs to attack!

This signature massage oil from the Alila Spa combines lavender, lemongrass and ylang ylang, and it’s the fastest way to teleport yourself there without leaving your bedroom.

Bali has four volcanos, some of which are still active! The organic volcanic is a cool reminder of the hike you can take to their craters (it’s tough! I climbed Mt Batur and was way out of breath).
