Administrative Recognition

Posted on the 15 April 2016 by Shurby

In 1952, National Secretaries Week was held during the first week of June. Later in 1955, the National Secretaries Association changed the week to the last week in April. The name later changed to Professional Secretaries week and to keep in step with changing job titles and roles, the name eventually changed to Administrative Professionals’ Day.

When all is said and done at the end of the day, almost everything that happens in a company passes through the administrative staff. They are the backbone to the company and the worker bees that keep everything “buzzing” along. They are the glue that typically binds all of the departments together. They are experts at juggling tasks and are our human time clocks and gate keepers. It’s often a job that comes with more headaches than glory and one that is all too often unappreciated.

This year, Administrative Professionals’ Day is celebrated on Wednesday April 23rd. So remember to thank your team members and staff that, although not always apparent, have had a helping hand in building up your company. With nearly 5 million people filling these roles in the United States alone, including administrative assistants, clerks, receptionists, couriers and messengers, you are bound to come across someone you can thank for the vital role they play in the production and growth of their company.
