A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)Our second day in Manchester we went looking for Breaking Bad street art (I've got a story to share later in this post regarding a certain character) and wandered around a huge Christmas market before heading back home.
A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)Funnily enough we could actually see Christopher Walken from our window but it wasn't until we got up close to him that I was really blown away by the detail. The artist, Akse P19 who has painted these murals around Manchester has some serious skills. A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)
Just around the corner from Walken was Jesse Pinkman and he was definitely the one I was most excited to find. I even tweeted the artists to ask him where it was in Manchester after I saw rumours online that his face was on a wall somewhere in the city.  A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)
After our snippet of street art excitement it was time for breakfast and on our wander up Deansgate to the city centre, we passed by Bake Station, a small café that was advertising full English breakfasts outside. The food was great and I'm glad we went somewhere different. I don't know if it's a chain or not but it had a nice friendly atmosphere and the coffee was great too.
A Trip To Manchester (Part 2) After breakfast we went in search of Heisenberg and Hank. I knew we'd find Heisenberg in the Northern Quarter and in particular, on Tib Street. We walked down the entire street and passed by where he should have been only to find a pink dog/cow/whatever. Let's just say I wasn't impressed that someone had painted over him with something so insignificant. Slight rant aside, we did find Hank (although we did walk up out of the city center for a good half hour following the wrong directions that we were given by google maps) who is just off Tib Street on the side of The Wheat Sheaf pub. I've also heard that Mike is going to be somewhere in the city, so when that's confirmed I think we'll have to go back down again and see if we can find any other familiar faces too.
A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)We had a walk around the massive Christmas market in the city center and it's made me very excited for Berlin and the thought of eating numerous crepes. Mmm. There was so many cheese stalls too, some had tasters and I really recommend trying whiskey cheese and the chilli cheese if there's a market near you, they're great! I also had my first taste of Costa's Hot Spiced Apple and it's amazing; really sweet, warm and christmassy.A Trip To Manchester (Part 2) A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)
A Trip To Manchester (Part 2)I really enjoyed visiting Manchester and I'm glad we had time to walk around and take in the city this time. It's such a lovely city and it's nice to visit somewhere that's a bit different to Newcastle or Durham, somewhere I don't really know my way around. I'd never been before around Christmas time  and it really does looks amazing, just look at how big that Santa is!

Have you been to Manchester before? Where's your favorite place to visit during the festive season?
