Back in the 60's (earlier maybe) when my abuelita (grandma) was still studying at the University of Santo Tomas, she and her friends would frequent a place called Little Quiapo. The restaurant which is right across their campus serves THE BEST halo-halo and palabok in town.
Fast forward to the present. Little Quiapo is now located at the back of SSS in East Avenue. I don't know when they transferred in Quezon City. But ever since my abuelita heard about it, we would go to Little Quiapo whenever she's craving for halo-halo or palabok.
I admit that there are various restaurants that also offer delicious halo-halo and palabok; however, there's something special about Little Quiapo's version. As seen in the main photo, Little Quiapo which used to be a small eatery opened its first branch inside the University of the Philippines in 1949. On September 18th 2018, the restaurant celebrated its 69th year.
For a restaurant to achieve that milestone, it only means one thing. They're doing things right from the food all the way to the service.It's also worth mentioning that Little Quiapo is always filled with people. If you want to dine in, make sure to be early so you'll be able to get a parking spot and a seat. Take note that the place isn't that big; however, the limited seats make your dining experience a little more private.
Now onto the food! Little Quiapo has a lot more to offer besides the "All Time Favorites". They have various choices of beef, chicken, pork and seafood dishes. In the past, I think we have eaten their Kare-Kare, Grilled Boneless Chicken, and Shrimp Gambas. They're all very delicious and perfect for the whole family. The serving is ample and worth the penny. But on our latest trip to Little Quiapo, we decided to try their All Day Breakfast and Rice Meals.

Among these three, I recommend the Loco Moco Rice Meal. Technically, it's just hamburger patty but you'll be surprised how good it tastes. Not only was the meat juicy and tender, but it was very flavorful all thanks to that mouthwatering gravy.
And since we were already there, we didn't pass up the chance to enjoy some Palabok (Php 105) and Fiesta Halo-Halo (Php 165)! Nothing really beats Little Quiapo's version! These two always leave you satisfied.
