A Quarter of Under 30 Year Olds Are Bored with Facebook and Other Social Media Sites

A new survey shows that over 25% of 18 to 29 year olds are bored with Facebook and other social media sites like Twitter and YouTube.

Most of them mentioned that they don’t find the social media sites are as interesting as they found them when they first started using them, in other word they are simply “bored” with Facebook and other social media sites, which makes Gartner, a reputable research firm which conducted the survey, to imply a large amount of social media sites users are enduring “social media fatigue”.

that over 30% of “Aspirers” (younger, more mobile, brand-conscious consumers) showed that they have been getting bored with sites like Facebook and others is a condition that social media companies should keep an eye on, because they have to be innovative and offer more to maintain users interest,” said Brian Blau, research director at Gartner.

The research also exposed that around 33% of social media users are becoming more concern about the lack of privacy on sites like Facebook and Twitter. Nevertheless, the survey also revealed that behavior to privacy are generally depending on age, youngsters are less concern about privacy comparing with older participants.

The amount of user concern about privacy will demand continuing monitoring for companies with regards to consumer opt-in and education. Lessons needs to be learned from Facebook while they test the limits of users patience when they look for more profits, Said Charlotte Patrick, principal research analyst at Gartner.
