This apartment is our family apartment. Situated in a bay, overlooking the city and surrounded by beautifully woody mountains, I've always adored just looking up and seeing even more from this gorgeous country. Like I mentioned before, the 2 bedroom apartment was very much stuck in the 80s (when my family last re-decorated!) and whilst liveable for our annual holidays, it didn't hold much hope for daily living. We started anew except from the wallpapered, er, walls, and our newly redone wooden floors, and here are some decor highlights.
Welcome to Chez Daisybutter - the Hong Kong division. In Episode #1 of moving house, I bought my first ever sofa! Plenty of Tweets, hours and frustrated measuring sessions later, I'm a proud sofa-owner and I feel grown up. Whilst I originally wanted a gray sofa (you can read my inspo post here), I fell in love with this snowy taupe leather version from 實惠 in Hong Kong. I almost went for the standard Ikea SÖDERHAMN sofas, but this one is so charmingly compact and it's lovely and comfortable too. Leather sofas are pretty much a must in a country that is predominantly warm and humid too. I did, however, manage to accessorise as planned with this beautiful checked throw from Ikea (HK$199.90/£15). So Scandi-chic.
Getting a potted plant is the first rite of passage for a new abode, amirite? My Mama picked this little one up for me and I display it in my teeny bay window that's on the side of my living 'room'. Pebbled translucent window decals are essential too for high-rise living where, you know, your neighbours can see directly into your living room and potentially watch you 'Shake It Off' on Monday nights in. I'm hoping to add some cacti, succulents and a traditional Chinese money tree to my plant collection!
The windows in my apartment have metal gates to strengthen the window area because... typhoons. However they do still offer an amazing view, now framed by my beautiful new Italian fabric curtains. (And on the right we have another snap of my throw for good measure.)
Oh Ikea, you and your photo rails. Picked straight from Pinterest, I display minature photo frames, my TS1989 Polaroids and a little clock here in my living space to add some height and division, as all of my furniture is super cute and compact. (Read: short and small.)
Finally, some little, more familiar home accents that currently live on my coffee table because I can't seem to find the "right" place for them. Made dat heart dish myself and all.
