This service, which will be available soon on devices running the Android operating system from Google, should allow users to select an area and to save the map, which can be viewed without an internet connection.

This can be useful for people who travel abroad to places where they do not want to pay roaming surcharges or in situations where someone would be in the basement and private connection, or in a plane, they said.

Ms. Chen has supported his argument by backing up a section of the map of London, which remained very interactive by unplugging the internet connection.

If you turned on the GPS, the blue dot (locates you) will still work. You can orient yourself even without Wi-Fi, “she added.

In addition, the new version of the application zooms in on the map while maintaining its sharpness even without Internet access.

The updated Google Maps comes as news reports multiply to announce the withdrawal of Google Map of the devices sold by Apple as it is currently always present. Apple develop into effect its own GPS system, according to this information.

Google also introduced enhancements to its Street View function, with access to more places where cars cannot go, and more detailed maps in three dimensions of Google Earth that allows users to see the streets as if flying.
