By Sammycx @sammycx
Manchester is known for many exciting things; Britpop band Oasis, two rival clubs, some of the best cocktail bars in the UK, and more. It’s full of amazing things to see and do and is one of the best places to visit with your friends for a long weekend - or even just a day.
If you’re visiting Manchester soon, this post’s got you covered. Read on for some suggestions on what to do and see!
FriendsFest If you're not a Friends fan, you can skip this part. If you are, then head to Heaton park and you can enjoy a day dedicated to the show Friends with your own friends. From the 13th-19th of August, you can visit restaurants named after things on the show, visit the sets, take pictures, and enjoy drinks while watching some of the funniest Friends moments on the big screen.
Friends fans shouldn’t miss FriendsFest!
Cocktails What’s a girl’s weekend without cocktails? Asha’s Bollibar can be found beneath the Indian restaurant ‘Asha’s’ on Peter Street. The cocktail list is designed by Manchester’s own mixology maestro Jamie Jones, serving classic cocktails with a new twist.
Apotheca offers delicious cocktails served in vintage bottles. If you and your friends love trying different cocktails, Be At One gives you 150 different cocktails to choose from, so you’ll be spoiled for choice (just don’t set out to taste all 150).

Places To Stay Manchester has many exciting places to stay. Manchester Apartments can give you the opportunity to experience Manchester city center living. 1-3 bedroom apartments are available depending on your group, and the apartments can be found in the most sought after areas of manchester.
Shopping TripsManchester is the perfect city for shopping trip. Visit Affleck’s if you and your friends love unique finds and vintage treasures - it isn’t your standard shopping centre, and you definitely won’t find a River Island or a New Look in here. If that’s your thing, the Trafford center is probably the best place for you to go. Hundreds of shops and restaurants can be found here, so you have everything you need in one place.
Manchester’s Music SceneSure, you could eat great food, shop till you drop, and drink cocktails all day long, but you’d be missing out if you didn't make the most of Manchester’s music scene. The Hollies and the Bee Gees starting paving the way for the scene in Manchester in the 60s, and then came bands like The Smiths and Oasis. There are all kinds of places you can visit depending on the music you’re a fan of. Salford Lad’s Club has a room dedicated to The Smiths, or you can head to Manchester Arena and see what’s on during your stay.
Exploring Different Neighborhoods Perhaps you want to get a feel for the different neighborhoods in Manchester. The Northern Quarter is perfect for cocktails and vintage shops, and Spinningfields is your place to be for amazing restaurants and bars. If you just want to see one of the prettiest places ever, then visit Castlefield.
Manchester is an amazing, varied city with plenty to do. How will you spend your weekend?
