This year alone, I've heard of so many newly launched daily chemical exfoliants that contain not only AHA and BHA but also PHA which already starting to sound like a gimmick. Actually, this blog already featured one last month, and now, I have another one again from a different brand. But what makes it different from the others? Does it work, or just a gimmick? WHAT IS IT?
Purito ABP Triple Synergy Liquid contains a balanced blend of EWG 1 rated AHA, BHA, PHA components that can be used comfortably and without irritation on not only the oily or dry skin but also on combination skin. because the product contains naturally derived supplementary ingredients including Panthenol and Sodium Hyaluronate, skin remains moist without tightness, even after exfoliation.
INGREDIENTS
The acne-fighting BHA in this product is the Betaine Salicylate, which is a gentler alternative to Salicylic Acid which I personally prefer because it's not harsh on my skin. Then anti-aging AHA ingredient is Mandelic Acid. And I am not making this up, that is also my preferred AHA because it is gentler than Glycolic Acid but equally effective. While the PHA in this is Gluconolactone which also works as an anti-aging. Lastly, this is free of alcohol, sulfate, silicone, and paraben. Plus, it's cruelty-free. PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: After washing your face, apply to a cotton pad and wipe across the face avoiding eyes and mouth. Alternatively, my preferred method, pump 2-3 times on palm and apply evenly all over the face. If you're going to use this after a toner, make sure the toner is sufficiently absorbed into your skin before applying this.
SCENT: At first pump, there's this generic toner scent that can't that you'll only smell on so-called "unscented serums" with a hint of non-specific sour candy fruit, but upon application it is undetectable.
PACKAGING: It comes in a clear plastic pump bottle, nothing cute about it but it is something like you will take seriously. Because I've used many products in cute packaging, they often left me disappointed.
FORMULA: It does not have any color, and it is also kinda thick but it absorbs fast into the skin. It only feels very little tacky at first but once absorbed into the skin it feels just fine.
RESULT
The "Synergy Liquid" sounds vague, is it a toner or is it an essence. But according to the label, you can use this product in your toner/essence step, so I guess it depends on you. Personally, I find it more like an essence rather than a toner.
After I got rid of my acne breakout, I decided to use this ABP Triple Synergy Liquid every other night only after a layer of my favorite Purito toner. Why? Well, it contains 3 different chemical exfoliators, I recently had a chemical peel treatment and just finished my retinoid cream, I don't want to overdo it. But in 2 weeks of doing just that, I did notice my remaining dark spots from my breakout are lightening and skin is looking much smoother. The best part, it doesn't sting and actually feels moisturizing.
VERDICT
PROS: It doesn't sting! It also feels a little moisturizing despite being a chemical exfoliator, and keep my acne at bay. Lastly, it really did lighten my dark spots and smoothen my skin. This product can suit both oily and dry skin. Those with sensitive can use this too because the AHA and BHA in here are the gentler ingredients, but YMMV!
CONS: This product also claims to remove unnecessary sebum, I'm not so sure if it does that.
