A Full Week of Gluten Free

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

I thought it would be fun to look back over the last week and think about how going Gluten Free effected my mood life.

Why did I EVER think going Gluten Free would be a good idea?

The bad news is that it was a really good idea because my tummy troubles have gotten significantly better. So, I’m going to continue to suffer the loss of belgian waffles, pancakes, biscuits, bread (the normal kind), muffins, most all cookies, beer, ice cream cones, beer, beer, pizza, cereal (except cinnamon chex), spaghetti, pretzels, granola bars, and random things like elk jerky and the enchilada sauce from Trader Joe’s which both have hidden barley malt in them.

But all that aside, I’ve found some pretty fun gluten free options of almost everything…. except the cookies! I don’t know how long this diet will last unless I get my hands on some pretty delicious gluten free cookies here in the next few weeks days.

I’m eating much healthier in general. I’m a girl who really likes her carbs. Without being able to enjoy sandwiches at lunchtime and the mindless grab of a cookie or muffin around 3pm I’m filling up on more salads and veggies which is AWESOME!

I’m excited to see how my diet and tummy issues continue to get better.

Would I recommend going Gluten Free?

NO WAY in H-E-DoubleHockeySticks!

It’s hard. It’s frustrating. It leads to scary-hungry-Maren a lot. It’s not the easiest when eating out or with other people. I’m one of those high maintenance eaters now…. Not liking that at all.

But, dealing with the tummy problems I had was the worst! And I got to the point of wanting to do anything, ANYTHING to make them start getting better. So… sacrifices must be made!!!

I am still making an appointment to see my doctor because I want to get to the bottom of what is actually going on. Not just fix it. Plus, I don’t know if going Gluten Free will actually completely fix the problems. It might just cover them up.

Gluten Free is the way to be…. for now.

Tell me about you! I want to know….

Have you ever gone on a pretty restrictive diet for health reasons?

When you get back from vacation do you unpack right away?

I procrastinate…. I procrastinate a lot!

What carb would to take with you to a deserted island?

Cookies. No, Beer. No, muffins. No, Cookies…. to hard!
