Since moving into our new home a few months ago, I have been practically obsessed with home decor and decorating our new place. We don’t have an unlimited budget but I love finding inspiration from all over and applying it to our home in a way that works for our budget. Every once in awhile I like to collectively look over what I’ve pinned on my home Pinterest boards (same goes for my fashion boards) to get an idea of what my tastes are gravitating towards. More recently, I’ve definitely been gravitating towards a more moody, deeper color palette when it comes to home decor – and I’ll just go ahead and say it, I’m flat out sick of the all white, and spray painted gold home decor trend that’s been so popular the past couple of years. It’s just become so cookie cutter to me, and I hate to say it but everyone’s houses/apartments on these home tours are starting to look too similar for my taste!

But anywho, I slightly digress. Back to looking over my Pinterest boards and noticing darker color palettes popping up in my latest pins. I’m so into it! I love darker jewel tones, incorporated with more subtle metallic finishing. I love the idea of having a few pieces of meaningful art that reflect the homeowners as opposed to white gallery walls with cliche phrases. Sorry I’m not sorry. We’ve always had a huge dark brown sectional and I’m slowly but surely incorporating darker tones into our space with the living room decor. I added these deep blue throw pillows to our couch, along with these from Restoration Hardware and these from West Elm. Couch pillow mix is something I struggle with (dramatics, yes I know…struggling with couch pillows) but I think I’m finally happy with our pillow mix! Our couch is a casual sectional so I love the mix of more luxurious fabrics and patterns on the couch for some added interest!

I’m still trying to convince my fiancé’ to get rid of the current shelving unit we use to house our tv (I’ve never been a fan of it) and in the meantime, I’ve been on the hunt for a few more perfect additions to finish off the living room that aren’t so cookie cutter. We have a black tv console table thingee that I want to take out of storage and incorporate and I’m debating on adding a high gloss clear coat on top as I am now obsessed with the idea of high gloss black furniture. And alas, I’m torn between navy blue velvet curtains, or a faux silk neutral colored curtain. I love the darker tones of each but I’m leaning more toward the blue velvet, just because how luxe would that look with gold curtain rods? Which ones do ya’ll prefer!? As far as a rug choice – I’ve been obsessed with this one from Z Gallerie for months now, but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Sometimes I’m too indecisive for my own good!
