Lighting

Harsh lighting in a bedroom is a big no-no! This goes for all sources, be it a lamp or the sunshine! Bedroom lighting should be versatile. When you first wake up, you want a gradual increase of light. Blackout blinds and a sunlight that turns on gradually are ideal. In the morning, you’ll want a bright room to wake you up and get ready for the day in. If the sun shines indirectly, though, voile curtains are ideal. They let in most of the light but deflect some of the harshness. In the evening, you’ll want softer lighting to create a more relaxing vibe. Touch-activated lamps with three different levels of brightness are ideal.

Carpets and Rugs

Softness underfoot is a wonderful feeling, especially in a room where you are often barefoot. If you have hard carpets or flooring, consider switching to carpet. Bedrooms tend to be a pretty good shape and size for carpets you can fit yourself. If this isn’t an option, rugs are a great alternative. Look for ones that are especially soft and cosy. That way, when you swing your feet out of bed in the morning, you’ll hit soft ground.

Underfloor heating

Carrying on from the point above, underfloor heating is a fantastic way to keep a bedroom comfy and cosy. It is also a great option if you want to keep hard floors, but want the benefit of warmth. Warmup is one such company who can help with this.

Blankets

Bedding is important in making a cosy bedroom. However, having overly fluffy bottom sheets and duvets can be disruptive to getting a good night’s sleep. This is because if you get too hot, your body will wake you up to tell you. A good middle ground is to have normal sheets and bedding, but keep a warm blanket at the end of the bed. You can pull it up and use it if needed. Teddy Bear fabric is wonderful (it feels just like a teddy bear!) and these type of blankets are affordable too.

Mattress

There are all sorts of options out there for mattresses. Some people prefer hard and firm, other’s soft, like a cloud. That’s why memory foam mattresses are so ideal, and especially for beds with more than one person in them. They mold to the shape of the user, meaning that everyone in the bed gets to sleep comfortably. When it comes to choosing the best memory foam mattress, choose a brand and make with good reviews. After all, these people have tried the product out themselves, in their own homes!

Color

In the same way that light can be too stark, so can certain wall colors. Soften a white bedroom by painting over it with a cream or pale yellow color. This will create a greater feeling of warmth.
