6 Must Try Summer Haircare Essentials

By Triedandtestedblogger @triedtestedblog

While I’m usually quite casual with my hair care routine and opt for a simple regime, when it comes to a Summer routine, the harsh elements (the blazing heat, sand and salty water) really can take a toll on your hair so today I’m sharing some of my long time hair care favourites, as well as some new loves!

My hair absolutely lives in a pony tail when Summer rolls around because it’s just too hot and messy to have it down all the time. As someone who has long, thick hair, finding a hair tie that will actually stay put and wont loosen after a few uses is a challenge but these invisibobble Hair Rings are amazing! You can wrap them around quite a few times, nice and tight but they wont tug or pull at the hair when it comes time to remove them. They’re great to use when styling the hair too.

To add a bit of texture to the pony tail look, I’ve been reaching for the Toni&Guy Casual Rough Texturiser. Once worked in (you dont need to apply much at all), it instantly gives the hair a ‘lived in’ look which is casual but still looks like you’ve put in some hair styling effort. The matte finish also makes it perfect for use in the Summer time.

If you love going to the beach but end up coming home with tangled hair or your hair is naturally prone to getting into knots, the Paul Mitchell Kids Taming Spray Ouch-Free Detangler. It can be used on both dry and damp hair, making brushing through knots much easier and less painful. I’ve found that if I’m going for a more sleek hairstyle, this is great to spritz on to tame fly aways and frizz.

With Summer comes barbeques, get togethers and spending time in the sun so get your hair smooth and glossy as well as nourished after time out in the harsh elements, a hair mask is a must. Recently, I’ve been using the Hello Hair Hydrating Mask and Hair&Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment and both of them are great! Beautifully scented, they’re easy to apply and leave your hair feeling glossy, smooth, bouncy and nourished.

One product that has been living in my bathroom since I received it is the Tangle Teezer Blow-Styling Half Paddle Smoothing Tool for Wet to Dry Styling! The brush is made with teeth that actually extract moisture from the hair shaft whilst brushing, ensuring your hair dries faster and being from the brand, the brush doesn’t overly pull or tug at the hair. It honestly speeds up my thick hair’s drying time, especially when used with a hair dryer and the large paddle brush design and handle makes it easier to use and faster to brush through the hair, compared to a regular hair brush. The brush works well to brush out any knots and it’s perfect to use when styling hair because it provides great lift and a sleek, smooth finish. If you find your hair gets knotty or frizzy after a day at the beach, this is a must have!

What are your current hair care favourites?
