NordicTrack is one of the leading elliptical brands on the planet. Here’s a detailed look at all of their ellipticals so you can learn which one is best for you.

Best NordicTrack Ellipticals

NordicTrack is one of the most familiar names regarding home-based cardio equipment.

Although the company started with ski machines (hence the name), they eventually branched out to treadmills and in the case of this guide… ellipticals!

They are one of the top-tier makers of ellipticals, and its line includes a wide range of machines targeted at the budget-friendly, space-saving beginner to the most experienced elliptical user.

In this guide, we will break down each of NordicTrack’s elliptical offerings, including key specs, pros, cons, and the kind of user that would benefit most from each type of machine.

By the time you are down scrolling/reading, you will have the EXACT idea of which one of NordicTrack’s ellipticals match your workout goals.

Let’s jump in and get to striding!

NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE7i

⭐
Best for users who want: A storable machine, trainer-led classes, a stride length designed for people 6’2” and under, and don’t want to break the bank.

The SpaceSaver line of NordicTrack ellipticals is primarily designed to… wait for it… save space!

They fold up and can be stored vertically when not in use, making them an excellent choice for home gyms that are also multi-purpose rooms, like garages, bedrooms, or rec rooms.

Unfold the elliptical when you want to train, get your sweat on, fold it back up, and free up serious square footage in your home.

The NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE7i is the most budget-friendly in this line of ellipticals, at $1,199.

It has an 18” stride length, which will work just fine for everyone except for particularly tall users (6’2” and over will want a longer strider length); it has 22 levels of resistance and a gorgeous 10” HD touchscreen.

NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i

⭐
Best for: People who love online classes, want a huge, HD screen, and want a foldable elliptical.

The Nordic SpaceSaver 9Ei is the big brother to the 7Ei.

Upgraded features include a bigger screen (14” vs 10”), more resistance levels, and a motorized incline.

It has many of the same performance characteristics, including a foldable design that can be stored vertically between workouts and an 18” stride length.

The 9Ei is the ultimate NordicTrack elliptical for people who love doing the online classes and programs that come with the iFIT subscription (some 17,000 workouts and counting).

Beyond the hyuuuuge touchscreen that comes with the 9Ei, it also has a powered incline that makes changing the degree of difficulty mid-workout a breeze.

Also, the motorized incline can be increased/decreased within online classes using a feature called Trainer Control. (And yes, you can turn this off, as well.)

NordicTrack Commercial 9.9 Elliptical

⭐
Best for: Elliptical users who want a studio-grade ride at home at budget-friendly pricing.

The NordicTrack Commercial 9.9 is a relatively budget-friendly elliptical trainer that has one of the heaviest flywheels on the market at a nearly bomb-proof 25lbs.

The Commercial 9.9 has some other excellent features that line up with other quality elliptical machines in the $1,500 price bracket, including a power incline (up to 20 degrees), 7” HD touchscreen, and over 20 resistance level options.

It also has an adjustable stride length that fits automatically to your natural stride (it adjusts from 17.5” to 18.7”).

The machine is very sturdy as well, weighing 244lbs. Combined with the heavy flywheel and you’ve got a very stable striding experience.

The Commercial 9.9 competes well against other machines in its class, most notably the Sole Fitness E95, with a more affordable price tag and heavier flywheel.

NordicTrack Commercial 14.9

⭐
Best for: People who want an adjustable stride, a studio-grade ride, and doing iFIT classes with a big 14” HD touchscreen.

The NordicTrack Commercial 14.9—as the name would suggest—is built for high-volume commercial use, but comes in at a price that makes it suitable for home gyms.

The machine has a front-drive system that has a 32lb flywheel (which is, needless to say, one of the heaviest on the market) for an absolutely pristine striding experience.

Key features include a motorized incline that can be adjusted up to 20 degrees, multi-grip handles, and plenty of workout difficulty options with 26 levels of magnetic resistance.

The main feature of the Commercial 14.9, like the SpaceSaver 9Ei and the FS14i, is the big and glossy 14” touchscreen. The huge screen is great for using iFIT, NordicTrack’s online portal of workouts and studio classes.

I also really like the oversized foot pedals and the cushioning on the pedals–even extended use on the machine was comfortable on my feet.

For people who are serious about their elliptical workouts, want an exceptionally smooth ride, and wanna get down on doing trainer-led classes through iFIT, you can’t go wrong with the NordicTrack Commercial 14.9 Elliptical.

PROSCONS

NordicTrack FS10i Elliptical

⭐
Best for: People who want a combo stepper, elliptical and low-impact treadmill.

The NordicTrack FS10i is a center drive elliptical, which means that it has a more “free” striding path and requires less space than conventional front or rear drive elliptical machines.

The FS10i is the base free-stride elliptical by NordicTrack, but still punches over its weight when it comes to features.

The machine has 24 levels of resistance, a power incline (up to 10 degrees of incline), and a crystal-clear 10” touchscreen for doing classes and tracking all your workout data.

One of the main benefits of center-drive ellipticals is that you get a more natural striding experience, and the FS10i delivers on this, adjusting to the length of your legs and stride.

(For more information on the differences between elliptical drives, check out this article.)

Additionally, center drive ellipticals mean you can change up your stride to create a more vertical or horizontal emphasis.

In other words, if you want a workout that is more akin to stepping, you can do that. And if you want a more purely horizontal stride (like running), the FS10i can emulate that too.

The machine follows along with the path of your stride—no manual adjustments required.

The variety ensures keeping things fresh and targeting more muscle groups along the way, too.

PROSCONS

NordicTrack FS14i

⭐
Best for: Online classes, users who want a 3-in-1 cardio machine, and more incline/decline options with stride path.

The NordicTrack Freestride FS14i is an upgraded version of the FS10i, with a larger touchscreen (14” vs 10”), two extra resistance levels, and a power decline on top of the incline from the FS10i.

My favorite feature of the Freestride series of ellipticals is that they are in reality a 3-in-1 cardio machine.

You’ve got the options between a standard, elliptical stride path, the vertical path of a stepper, and the longer, more horizontal gait of a treadmill.

This versatility means keeping things fresh and challenging on the machine, and cycling through the three types of path (it’s done automatically by your legs, no changing modes on the console or anything like that) can be done mid-workout.

The center-drive on the FS14i also means a reduced footprint compared to other types of elliptical machines.

PROSCONS

The Bottom Line

NordicTrack is one of the most reputable brands in the marketplace when it comes to creating durable and comfortable cardio machines for weight loss.

No matter what kind of elliptical training you like to do, whether it’s long, steady state workouts or doing short-and-sweet HIIT sessions, there is a NordicTrack elliptical trainer that lines up with your workout goals.
