5 Steps for Fighting Oily Summer Skin

One of the main beauty issues plaguing me is the constant struggle to tame my oily skin. My skin is naturally oily and in the hotter summer months, the amount of oil on my skin is pretty gross. I always modify my beauty routine during the summer for a couple of reasons. One because it starts to become too hot to wear heavier makeup like foundations and because the grease will overtake my face if I don’t implement a plan of action as soon as possible once the heat really kicks in.

A little over a year ago, I began suffering with painful under the skin acne which took forever to go away and left dark marks on my skin when it finally cleared. A trip to the dermatologist and a prescription for an acne fighting ointment along with the Murad cleanser has literally been a lifesaver for my skin. I highly recommend it for oily or acne prone skin types. Maybelline’s BB Cream is a fairly recent buy for me, purchased a few months ago, and definitely a great buy! It does absolutely all of the skin perfecting tricks claimed on the packaging, and I love the coverage it gives me without the heavy feeling that foundation can sometimes have.

Feel free to substitute any of your favorite products in place of the ones I’ve listed. As long as you utilize the 5 steps along with the products of your choosing you should get great results! MAC’s Mineralize Powder and Clean and Clear’s blotting papers are old favorites of mine, but if there’s a different setting powder or brand of blotting papers you prefer, by all means go for it!

These 5 steps are effective, quick and simple – great for me when I don’t feel like putting so much effort into my makeup routine on any given day. I’ve been using this routine for several weeks now, and by mid day my face isn’t a total oil slick which in my case is a feat in itself! Try it out as an update to your summer beauty routine, or as a means to control the greasies if you have oily skin like mine. Be sure to let me know what you think when you try the routine out! Happy Monday!
