5 Smart Kitchen Storage Ideas!

The aim over the next few months is to completely declutter the house/garden, the amount of crap we have collected over the years is incredible! I'm probably the complete opposite of the word hoarder, I tend to just throw things away because I just can't stand clutter, so the plan is to throw away a load of stuff we don't use/is is the way or any kind of rubbish, we are hoping to hire a skip which would make things SO much easier! Once mission de clutter is over, we will be looking for ways to store whatever is left, by finding some clever storage systems, nifty hideaway places and even finding some clever DIY ways to keep everything in order! The main room we need to sort is the kitchen, somehow over the years the dining table has ended up being a clothes holder, one of the surfaces has Abbie's dollhouse on it and every bit of the kitchen storage space we did have, is stacked full with baking goods, saucepans and even the pump to pump up the paddling pool in the summer! It's driving me crazy at the moment, so I can't wait for everything to be in it's rightful place, organised, tidy and clutter free! Yay! My dream kitchen has to be one of those big American types, with the pantry, island counter and fancy automatic taps (although probably wouldn't work too well with a 3 year old). But then I think about how much work it would be to clean and well, I then feel pretty pleased with my little kitchen that has normal taps and little storage space! Whatever your kitchen size, there are so many different storage ideas to keep everything organised and tidy, below I have listed a few of my favourites, if you fancy yourself a bit of DIY, number 3 will be just for you!

Kilner Jars

One for the bakers out there, and for well, anything you want to store actually. I really hate having half packets of flour and sugar floating around in the cupboards, it uses up unnecessary space and just doesn't look very pretty does it? Kilner jars are actually all the hype right now, so go ahead and jump on the bandwagon and get your condiments organised! There are even fancy labels you can print off online too, Pinterest are chocker full of them!

Saucepan Storage I can't even tell you how much better this would be, if you're anything like me then your saucepans are all stacked up inside each other, wonky and shoved in one of the cupboards, the lids have traveled to some far away land where they laugh at you when you are desperately looking for one!

Fruit & Veg Holders

Although a lot of our veg goes in the fridge, this would be the perfect solution for certain fruit and veg that needs to stay in a cool place, potatoes, onions, bananas etc. Ours end up just sitting on the worktop until we eat them, but this would free up so much space and clutter!

Mug Holders

Our mugs are currently in the smallest cupboard we have, all crammed in to the point where i'm scared to open it incase it all comes crashing down! We did used to have a mug holder but it just looked a bit naff, this is a much better way of storing them I think, up out the way of little hands, more than enough space between them and it actually holds plenty you! All you need it a wooden pallet, some screws, some hooks and a way to hang it on the wall!

Baking Sheet Organising

If you're a keen baker like me, you'll have about 1047 different baking trays, different shapes, sizes, finishes, colours...not to mention multiple cooling racks too! I always hate the part of having to sift through each baking tray, to find the right one, only for them to all crash and bang and fall out of the cupboard together anyway, creating some sort of orchestra music piece! (I know, real first world problems right?).
