Did you know that Swiss wines are some of the best in the world? However, 98% of all production is kept inside the country due to heavy import duties. This Autumn, take advantage of an unparalleled opportunity to sample this secretive delicacy at the world's largest public wine fair. For two weeks in November, a dozen charming belle époqueboats will be docked at Zurich's Burkiplatz and lit up like a circus tent. You'll have a chance to taste wine from 120 different providers while enjoying the beautiful sights of Lake Zurich in the Autumn. Among the 4000 wines on offer, 1500 are from Switzerland.

Away from the crowds of Cannes, Venice and the like, Zurich Film Festival has firmly established itself on the international film festival scene in a short space of time, attracting young, emerging filmmakers from all over the world. Competitions include the "New World View" section focussing on contemporary film from regions with up-and-coming film industries, such as Russia, Israel, Argentina, Iran and Mexico. The festival itself is held at the historic Sechseläutenplatz in the heart of the city and on the shore of Lake Zurich with screenings in many languages at its surrounding festival cinemas.

Rive Gauche at Baur au Lac will be transformed into one of Zurich's hottest restaurants - an outpost of pioneering Japanese-Peruvian cuisine courtesy of celebrated chef Nobuyuki 'Nobu' Matsuhisa. For the eleventh consecutive year, a team of chefs from the world-renowned kitchen will visit the restaurant and replace its Mediterranean cuisine with Nobu specialities such as Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapenos and Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce.

You don't have to travel to Munich to get an authentic experience of Oktoberfest. At multiple locations around Zurich, you'll find a full sense of Bavaria with beer tents, music and a party atmosphere at the Swiss beer festival. Whether at the Main Train Station together with tourists and commuters, on the Uetliberg mountain with wonderful views over the city, or at the traditional "Wiesn" held on the Bauschänzli since 1995, in September and October the beer flows in great quantities at various Oktoberfest events in and around Zurich.
