4 Reasons Why Vaping Is Better Than Smoking For Your Skin

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

In recent years, many smokers have been making the shift toward vaping. This decision is often a matter of convenience, a step toward cessation, or general interest in the vaping culture.

Many smokers are making the change to help fight the signs of aging. That leads to the question: is vaping better than smoking for your skin? Here are four compelling reasons why the answer may be "yes."

Control Over Nicotine Levels

One of the main pitfalls of smoking in relation to the skin is the impacts of nicotine. Nicotine causes blood vessels to contract, reducing blood flow and impeding the transportation of healing cells. Over time, these issues lead to dysfunctional skin repair within the body. As a result, higher nicotine levels can lead to wrinkles, discoloration, and sagging skin.

With vaping, you can limit or eliminate the level of nicotine you ingest. For many smokers, being able to slowly scale back while emulating the smoking experience can be beneficial.

Less Staining

Another cosmetic pitfall of smoking is the nicotine stains left on the teeth and skin. This side-effect can cause skin discoloration, particularly surrounding the mouth and fingers. The tar from cigarettes has the same effect on walls and furniture when someone smokes inside.
The discoloration and residue are another reason why smokers are switching to vape pens and glass pieces from the Me Time Box. Vaping, in particular, doesn't leave a residue because the output is vastly different from smoking.

4 Reasons Why Vaping Is Better Than Smoking For Your Skin

Fewer Toxins and Chemicals

Cigarettes have over 4000 chemicals, in addition to tobacco. These chemicals are terrible for the body and can have both cosmetic and medical implications on the skin. With traditional smoking, you make yourself more susceptible to lasting skin damage as well as skin cancer.

That's not to say that vaping is healthy. However, it's estimated that vaping exposes people to around 60 chemicals as opposed to 4000, making it notably safer. Many ingredients in vape juices are also natural and commonly used in cosmetics, making it safer on the skin.

Lower Combustion Point

Another aspect of vaping that makes it better than smoking is the lower combustion point. While there are still studies being done around this information, the theory is that the lower combustion means fewer toxins are actively released. As a result, fewer chemicals are entering the bloodstream, limiting the negative impacts on one's skin.

Offsetting Vaping for Skincare

It's important to note that while vaping may be better for the skin, it still has negative side-effects. If you're a regular vaper, be sure to drink plenty of water to flush your system and help your skin stay supple and elastic.

It's also worth having your blood tested to assess your vitamin A and vitamin C levels, as these both have impacts on your skin and can be decreased by vaping. If you experience dryness when vaping, use a high-quality moisturizer to nourish your skin.

While there is still a lot of research to be done, initial studies indicate that vaping is better for the skin than smoking.
