Give Ear Plugs a Try

Many people find that when they can’t get their minds to slow down, inserting a set of ear plugs does the trick. With no sounds filtering in, you will find it easier to let the natural rhythm of your breath lull you to sleep. While the ear plugs are great for getting to sleep, they will not interfere with hearing the alarm clock when it goes off in the morning. That’s important, since you don’t want to be late to work.

White Noise Machines

When you were looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for rent, one of the things you overlooked was the type of night sounds you were used to hearing at your past residence. The fact that things are so quiet now actually keeps you from getting to sleep. There needs to be some type of sound going on, but it must be something that won’t disturb your neighbors.

The actual sound could be rain falling, water burbling, wind blowing or whatever seems to help you relax. Many people find that one of these simple sounds is all takes for them to enjoy a full night of deep sleep.

No TV Tablet or Smartphone Before Bedtime

Did you know that your electronic devices could be part of the reason you have trouble getting to sleep? Many experts recommend removing televisions from the bedroom altogether. If you are in the habit of playing games on your tablet before bed, use it in the living room and stop playing at least a half-hour before bedtime. You also need to refrain from checking your email or surfing the Internet after you go to bed. If necessary, make sure the phone is plugged into a charger that is across the room and not perched within easy reach on the nightstand.

Lined Draperies

While some apartment rentals in Tigard, OR come with window treatments, others do not. Take a good look at the treatment you chose for your bedroom. Even with the blinds that were already on the windows, some light may be getting through the thin panels you chose. Invest in a pair of lined draperies to cover those windows. While there’s no sound filtering in from outside, the tiny bit of moonlight coming in between the blind slats could be what’s keeping you from sleeping.

While you will likely sleep fine once you get used to your new place, why deal with sleeping issues at all? Try these simple fixes and you could sleep soundly tonight and wake up feeling ready to take on the new day.
