As fall is (somewhat) upon us, we’re not only seeing our favorite fall fashions all over magazines and blogs, but even the beauty trends start to change; including the colors we see painted all over our favorite Instagrammers’ fingers. Summer brights and neons turn into dark wines and creamy neutrals. All of which I (Sara) am a huge fan of – but as someone who paints her nails every few days, I start to get a little bored with the same looks. So I thought I would share some fun new ideas you can try this fall that will help your nails stand out from the crowd, and are all super easy to do!
1. Bright + Glam.I know this doesn’t scream “fall”, but every now and then it’s ok to inject a bit of bright color into your look! This hue is unexpected, and you can add a bit of sparkle with a touch of gold glitter on your ring finger. For this look, I used “Robin” by Julep and then applied two small coats of “Solar Flare” by China Glaze on the tips of my ring fingers.
2. GraysI think grays are my favorite neutral. So instead of tans and beiges, I love having gray on my fingers – it goes with everything! To create a slightly different color-blocked look, I painted three nails one color (a light gray from Forever 21) and the remaining two a darker gray (“Chinchilly” by Essie).
3. Polka-DotsThese are one of my favorite nail looks :) There’s something so cheerful about polka-dots. I used a light gray (Essie’s “Cocktail Bling” would work great), and then dotted them with Sally Hansen’s nail art pen in white. Make sure you wait until your first coats of polish are somewhat dry before dotting, and then also wait for the dots to dry a little before using your top coat, otherwise they can smear.
4. Shimmery NeutralsTo glam up the neutral look a little bit, try something like this. I used Essie’s “Mochacino” which already has a smidge of shimmer to it, and then did a graduated glitter look on the top of each nail with Deborah Lippmann’s “Boom Boom Pow.” I typically dab just a little bit across the tips for the first coat of glitter, then paint one more coat half way down the nail to create a thicker look at top, with more sparse glitter towards the bottom.So! I hope that gives you a few new ideas for fall nails this year!
