204: How to Talk About Your Feelings in Mandarin Chinese

By Learnmandarinnow

We all have a wide variety of feelings. Sometimes we like things and sometimes we don’t. At other times, we make judgements on the quality of food or service or places we go to by talking about our overall feelings. Taking about feelings is an important part of human communications so it will be really helpful if you can get familiar with talking about such a subject!

In this Podcast, you will learn:

(i) To talk about how you feel about certain things

(ii) How to explain to someone else why you feel as you do

Dialogue:

Several examples of people expressing their feelings:

(在街上)

(zài jiē shàng)

(on the street)

有时候,我觉得很孤单。我不太适应大城市的环境,每天都感觉很疲惫。我很想我的爸爸妈妈。

Yǒu shí hou, wǒ jué de hěn gū dān. Wǒ bù tài shì ying dà chéng shì de huán jìng, měi tiān dōu gǎn jué hěn pí bèi. Wǒ hěn xiǎng wǒ de bà ba mā ma.

Sometimes I feel really lonely. I’m not used to a big city’s environment. Every day I feel exhausted. I really miss my mother and father.

(在饭馆)

(zài fàn guǎn)

(at the restaurant)

我最喜欢这家餐馆,饭菜做得好,服务也好,我每次来都很满意。对面那家餐馆就不行了,虽然比较便宜,但环境脏,服务差,我不喜欢那里,也不会再去那儿吃了。

Wǒ zuì xǐ huan zhè jiā cān guǎn, fàn cài zuò de hǎo, fú wù yě hǎo, wǒ měi cì lái dōu hěn mǎn yì. Duì miàn nà jiā cān guǎn jiu bù xíng le, suī rán bǐ jiào pián yi, dàn huán jìng zāng, fú wù chà, wǒ bù xǐ huān nà lǐ, yě bù huì zài qù nà er chī le.

This is my favorite restaurant. The food is good and the service is nice, too. I’m very satisfied every time. The restaurant across the street is not so good. It’s cheaper, but the environment is dirty and the service is bad. I don’t like it there and will not go back there again.

(在公园)

(zài gōng yuán)

(at the park)

小丽现在非常不开心,她在生你的气。你过去哄哄她吧?

Xiǎo lì xiàn zài fēi cháng bù kāi xīn, tā zài shēng nǐ de qì. Nǐ guò qu hǒng hǒng tā ba?

Xiao Li is very upset right now. She is mad at you. Why don’t you go over and talk nicely to her?

(on the street)

这次旅游和我想象的差太远了,我很失望,我以后一定不会再找这家旅行社了。

Zhè cì lǚ yóu hé wǒ xiǎng xiàng de chà tài yuǎn le, wǒ hěn shī wàng, wǒ yǐ hòu yī dìng bù huì zài zhǎo zhè jiā lǚ xíng shè le.

This trip is far worse than I expected. I’m very disappointed. I will never use this travel agency in the future for sure.
