17 Paleo Snacks on the Go

Snacks are good, but Paleo snacks are much better. Regardless of your weight loss plans, there is nothing better to keep your metabolism going than snacking at intervals. Your body will never stop burning calories, because it will never fear that you may go in starvation mode. Moreover, you will never splurge during actual meals because your stomach will be partly full, and not depleted from nutrients. Even more importantly, your glycemic index will neither spike nor drop. A balance snack makes your body happy, healthy, and it also protects it from over-eating.

Paleo Snacks

The reason why Paleo snacks are the best is because we look for foods with zero preservatives and with high macronutrient content. We also favor the “high-protein, no-sugar” dictum because it is the way that our bodies have been genetically built to eat. Preservatives, sugar, hydrogenated fats, and flavor-enhancing products are substances that our bodies simply cannot recognize. In turn, we react to those products adversely through allergic reactions. When, in contrast, the body absorbs these substances, we truly must wonder how each individual body chooses to metabolize them. What could they possibly turn into once they are inside our bodies? Can you believe that there are individuals who eat mainly preservatives every single day? What goes on inside their bodies?

Feel Hungry?

Eat food, then! Real food! Like the food choices that we propose in the Paleo diet lifestyle. They are not only awesome, but also delicious. Here are 17 Paleo snacks and ideas that you can make or take on the go.

  1. Uncured meat sticks- Companies such as Ostrim and Krave now produce low-to-no sugar curated meats of high quality to satisfy your caveman instinct those days when the need for meat gets the best of you. Be careful when choosing your beef and turkey jerky- Always opt for the more pure choices and watch that sugar content. It should not be cured with it. Braatime has several snacks that are cured with apple cider vinegar, so it’s a great choice.
  2. Paleo salad wraps. While lettuce wraps are the best choice to eat wraps, you may want something more absorbent when taking food around. Paleo-friendly food companies everywhere are now creating wraps made out of coconut, cauliflower or tumeric; among other great wheat-free bases. Once you get the right Paleo bread or wrap, the sky is the limit.
  3. Ham-Asparagus wraps- Uncured ham slices, wrapped around asparagus spears, are a simple way to get a mini-salad in your body. Try one today.
  4. Almonds-Now, for REALLY good almonds check out the slow-cooker spicy almonds from MyEasyPaleoMeals.com
  5. Zucchini rolls- Nowadays you can slice, chop, and even make noodles with zucchini in the cleverest ways. Wrap up thin-sliced zucchini with Paleo approved hummus, such the pumpkin hummus, and chomp away.
  6. Plantain chips- These exotic slices of sea-salty goodness are found anywhere in your Caribbean food section. Always check for the all-natural choices
  7. Tangerines- Nothing like an old fashioned, all-natural and fun snack provided by none other than Mother Nature, herself. Divide into segments and enjoy spitting out the seeds. They are the natural way to eat.
  8. Sashimi- If you do not mind the idea of raw fish for snack, dig away at some sashimi. You do not have to eat it just at the restaurant. Wholesale grocers sell it as Poke, which you can have anytime you want in salads, or on their own.
  9. Paleo trail mix– Cacao bits, almonds, dehydrated fruit and coconut flakes make this a favorite among everyone who loves this energy booster for optimal workouts.
  10. Paleo meatballs- All good things become best things when planned ahead. Mix ground sirloin, spices, arrowroot seed and egg to make delicious mini-meatballs that can be heated up for a nice on-the go warm snack. Chicken meatballs are also great if you don’t have or want to use pork. You can even have them in a breakfast or brunch version!
  11. Paleo smoothie- Made with coconut milk and fruit, add ice and have the best smoothie ever with zero chance for allergies or inflammation. The Raspberry, Rise & Shine and Tomato (if you’re in the mood for something savory) smoothies are all good choices when it comes to whipping up a quick, nutritious and delicious paleo treat.
  12. Celery ribs with almond butter– An after-school favorite made the Paleo snack way!
  13. Paleo chocolate cookies– Check these out. Crunchy, delicious and with the right amount of deliciousness.
  14. Feel eggy- Try these awesome Paleo Breakfast McMuffins and satisfy your savory tooth with a snack that can actually be very good for you. Enjoy this meaty and eggy goodness!
  15. Coconut water and diced pineapple- Can you say piña colada MINUS 400 calories and 59 grams of sugar? You get the same taste. Mix them together as a smoothie using coconut milk. Why not also add the little umbrella and make it a breezy cocktail to enjoy by the pool?
  16. Soup on the go- Paleo has a myriad of different bisques and soups made with the right ingredients for you. Most commercial Paleo-friendly options include tomato soup, pumpkin soup, and vegetable soups without potatoes. Be wary of “chowders” and “dumpling” soups. Paleo has much more delicious versions available.
  17. Last but not least- Frozen berries and grapes. Better than any candy out there, freezing makes fruit preserve their natural flavors and enhances the experience by providing more texture and crunch. Freeze and pop! They are awesome.
