The Importance of Support During Menopause
Are you going through the anxiously anticipated journey of menopause? If you are, remember that you are not alone and you have so much support behind you! Whether you have friends or family members that have been through it before or a supportive significant other, you have so many resources you can rely on. Your support group is there to help you prepare for the journey and go through it with you.

Preparing for Menopause
As much as you may try to prepare for menopause, you never know what to expect. As many women have different experiences, it is important that you are aware of the “what ifs.” What you can do to prepare is to speak with your friends or family who have been through it and get their advice on what it was like or what they did during the process. Many women may say, “I had a lot of hot flashes” or “it impacted my mental health, as well as experiencing many different menopause changes and symptoms.” With the information given to you, make sure to keep it all in mind. One important thing to do is to listen to your body. Understanding how menopause affects your body, adjusting to its changes, and practicing self-care for menopause are important factors that you can focus on. Your body is your powerhouse and you must keep it healthy to be the best version of yourself!

Taking Care of your Mental Health During Menopause
While your body begins to change you may notice a change in your mental health as well. You may experience anxiety and/or depression, but that is completely normal! As your body goes through physical changes, so does your mental health. You are experiencing something that only happens once so it is new to you and your body. If you are noticing that you are having anxiety or depression you need to take care of it. There are plenty of options that you can choose from to deal with your symptoms. It may feel normal for you to just push it to the side and say “I will take care of it when I have time” but that will only make it worse. As women live such busy lives it may be difficult to find the time to focus on your wellness but there are a couple of easy ways to care for yourself. You can set up a session and speak to a psychiatrist online to get treated for depression and anxiety or schedule time in your day where you can exercise, journal, or read! Having that alone time will provide you with a sense of relaxation.

Remember to Make Yourself a Priority
We all know that life never seems to slow down, but it is important that you take time to focus on yourself, especially while going through menopause. A few ways you can practice self-care are to carve out time in your day to relax, exercise, and focus on a hobby. Since your body is going through a phase that it has never been through, it should become a top priority to put yourself first. Adding self-care to your daily routine is something that should continue after menopause too! If you continue to make yourself a priority and add self-care into your daily routine after menopause, you will notice a big change in your mental and physical health. Your body makes up who you are and making time to care for it will benefit you!
