Step by Step to Smooth

By Meachrm @BaseballBTYard

When I watch MLB games I am constantly amazed at how easy the players make the game look.  Of course, the game is not even close to being easy.  The reason why it looks so easy is because the players have mastered the step by step micro-processes of making plays, swinging bats, and running the bases.  Learning all the micro-steps involved in the game is a process that takes a very long time and a whole bunch of work that virtually nobody will see or appreciate.  But when the work is done to master those steps, the player can then put even more work into merging all the steps into one smooth motion that appears to many to be simply “natural, God-given ability.”

Some players do have freakish, God given talents but the 99.9% of everyone else needs to commit a lot of time to get to the same point of movements that seem effortless.

And if you are a player who is reading this … get to work because you are not one of the .1%, regardless of what your showcase evaluation says.
