The Red Sox and new GM Ben Cherington began their Hot Stove moves with a real no-brainer: they exercised the $6 million option they hold on Marco Scutaro for 2012.
Scutaro was one of the few bright spots last September, and hit .299 for the season. With Jose Iglesias struggling at Pawtucket in 2011, it made sense to bring Marco back for another season.
