Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas 2015 Preview

By Runningatom
For the past few years, Salomon has been on the love-and-hate-and-love relationship with the Participants of its xTrail races as it has proved to be a formidable and tough trail and mountain racing event in the Country, specially its 24K and 32K distance categories.

Anvaya Cove

This years xTrail edition will be staged at a new venue and premier development of Ayala Land -- The Anvaya Cove Resort in Morong, Bataan where the "mountains meet the sea". The race course will have a more forgiving route this time as compared to last year as assured by Salomon Philippines Brand Manager - Janice Tañada. But of course, the technicality which Salomon xTrail Run is known for will still be there, so there will still be ropes for the mountain climbs, loose gravels and sand on the beach side, probably dusts or muds on the trail portions, and crossings on bridge and rivers.
In contrast from these, the route will still bring you to a splendid panoramas of the topography of abundant forests and stunning seascapes to the inviting Asian Tropical design of the neighborhood houses and elegant fairways of the golf course.
The race will start and end on a paved-road with a separate road access from the gate. From here the route will lead to the new trails being developed exclusively for this event. The trail network will feature the rugged and sophisticated course inside Anvaya Cove, the impressive cliffs and views atop the indigenous Kanawan Aeta community, the stunning long-stretch of Pawikan-conserved beach, a peak at adjacent areas of Mt. Natib and the surroundings of the Vietnamese Refugee Camp.
As Salomon race is always a green event, there will be no paper or plastic cups at the hydration refilling stations so it is best to have a hydration vest or bottle that will carry an ample load of your hydration for about 3 to 4 kilometers apart.
Enjoy some of the photos I took during our brief recon at a short portion of the route from the finish line to the beach club.
