Those were some lean times in Red Sox history, probably the worst era in team history. The Sox finished 7th that year, the only time between 1922 and 1930 they didn't finish last.
Anyway, Mr. Rubin tells his son about a doubleheader he attended in 1924 against the Washington Senators, and David told me that everything his dad said turned out to be 100% correct. (The Senators went on to win the 1924 World Series that year, the first in team history. They wouldn't win their next until they were the Minnesota Twins in 1987.)
And in the background you can hear the NHL Outdoor Classic going on (the clip was made on January 1, 2010). It was happening at Fenway Park that year, and Mr. Rubin was shocked to a hockey game going on at the Fens!
