You know, in case anyone spots these in their Black Friday bargain hunting. ;)
- Time - I need more of it. While I don't know that my needs are sufficient for a TARDIS, a Time Turner would certainly be nice.
- Professional Respect - No, I cannot be in (literally) two meetings at the same time. Yes, it does take time to lesson plan. And grade. No, I cannot "reflect on" the data if I do not have access to the data. Yes, I am more likely to question the validity of the data if I have no say in determining the data points to be assessed or the methods of assessing them - or, even more, if I am afforded the pretense of input only to discover it is all a charade. No, I am not just a glorified babysitter, and I would appreciate it if y'all would stop regarding me as such.
- Focus - Not to feel like I am being pulled in seventeen different directions. With standard daily use teaching work. And curriculum writing. And student teacher overseeing. And club advising. Other club advising. Union activities. Cooking meals at home. Dishes. Laundry. All the other housework I studiously ignore. Talking, listening to, being affectionate with, making plans with - you know, generally maintaining a good relationship with - my partner. Yoga. Running. Playing with the dogs. Taking care of the dogs. Distracting the dogs so I can get other shit done. This blog. Email. My other online community commitments. Family concerns, from two thousand miles away. A... social life? And when was the last time I got enough sleep? (Answer: the weekend of Veterans Day.)
- While we're at it, let's talk about a sports bra supportive enough for running in my size.
- A moratorium on people fat shaming and victim blaming on the Internet. Seriously, y'all are more aggravating than my students who try to play Halo in class.
- New cookware.
