Matt Szczur: Score One for the Good Guys

By Meachrm @BaseballBTYard

My father always said “sports (especially baseball) makes good people.”  It’s unfortunate but too often the bad guys in sports get all the attention.  Through my time in baseball, there have been so many great human beings that I’ve come into contact with and very few of them have ever gotten the notoriety they deserve.  That’s why I was so glad to see this story on ESPN’s E:60 program the other day.

Matt Szczur (pronounced “see-zur“) is a player in the Cubs organization who, like me, played at Villanova University.  He is a very gifted and accomplished athlete but as the video linked below will show, he is much more than just an athlete.  Keep a tissue handy.
